If you’ve been there, you should understand the understated beauty of the Northern Cape. Its terrain offers you a wide variety of sights depending on where you are headed. Here are some of our favorite spots to see:
Augrabies Falls National Park
Few sights are as awesome or a sound as deafening as water thundering down the 56-m Augrabies Waterfall when the Orange River is in full flood. This is a must-see while you visit the Northern Cape.
Kgalagadi (Kalahari) Transfrontier Park:
The merge of South Africa’s Kalahari Gemsbok National Park and Botswana’s Gemsbok National Park in 2002 created one of the largest wilderness areas in the world. This park offers more than 3.6 million hectares of Cornflower blue skies, russet red dunes, and golden grasslands. The landscape is perfect for photographic safaris with the family.
The Richtersveld National Park
The Richtersveld is a unique mountain desert wilderness of great beauty, tucked in the far north-western corner of the Northern Cape. Within this wilderness lies the incredible Richtersveld National Park.
Tankwa Karoo National Park
Remote and rugged, Tankwa Karoo National Park is a land of haunting beauty. The national park lies near the border of the Northern Cape and Western Cape in one of the county’s most arid regions, with stark desert plains and glittering night skies.
Quiver Tree Forest
On Gannabos, a farm near the small towns of Loeriesfontein and Nieuwoudtville, the Quiver Tree Forest is the world’s largest colony of these flowering aloes, also known as the kokerboom. Photographers and budding botanists often stop here on the way to Augrabies Falls and the Kalahari to admire these giant aloes.
Springbok Inn is just around the corner from this amazing spot. Make sure you book in advance
when you plan your trip.
There are so many other spots that are worth the view but these are just a few that stand out to us.
So… Pack your bags, head to the Northern Cape, and see as much as you can.
The most amazing part of the Northern Cape is how the landscape changes right before your eyes as you make your way through it. All these Northern Cape Landmarks are just the cherry on top.
Don’t forget to book your accommodation at any one of our properties as you visit these amazing places so that you can stay in comfort and have enough time to see everything.
