Financial Manager | Hospitality | Cape Town

Do you have hospitality finance experience and want a role that includes hotel developments and group strategy?

A privately owned hotel group with more than a dozen hotels across the Country, is looking for a Financial Manager to run its finance function from its Cape Town office. The role reports to the CEO and shareholders, leads a head office finance team, and will be working directly with the shareholders on development and future growth.

What you’ll be doing

  • Running the monthly close across all group companies, cash flow reporting and consolidation.
  • Reporting monthly to the CEO and shareholders on property-level results and variances.
  • Working with the shareholders on group strategy: hotel developments, acquisitions, feasibility studies, valuations and funding.
  • Accounting for development projects.
  • Leading the annual budget and reforecasts with the CEO and general managers, and maintaining the five-year capex plan.
  • Controlling cash and revenue at hotel level through daily cashups, banking of takings, stock takes and debtors.
  • Managing cash flow, EFT authorisations, bank mandates and a 12-week rolling forecast.
  • Handling tax compliance across all entities: VAT, PAYE, provisional and income tax, and dividends tax.
  • Overseeing payroll for around 300 employees.
  • Preparing annual financial statements under IFRS and managing the audit.
  • Leading and developing the finance team, and training of offsite staff.
  • Travel for internal audit.
  • Tax planning and strategy.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 2 years’ finance experience in hospitality (non-negotiable).
  • CA(SA) or CGMA advantageous.
  • BCom Accounting or equivalent.
  • Month-end and reporting experience across more than one entity. (Advantageous)
  • Hands-on South African tax compliance, including VAT and payroll.
  • Financial modelling, valuation, due diligence experience.
  • Comfortable working with finance and non-finance personnel, and willing to raise problems early with solutions.
  • Xero and SimplePay experience advantageous.

Package

R900 000 to R1 050 000 CTC per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
